Project Harar Complex Mission 2018 – Five Days to go
Jackie Riley (jr@sturgeonventures.com) who many of you know in our Fund Monitoring Team is leaving London in 5 days from now to be part of this amazing work www.projectharar.org. Sturgeon Ventures has already donated 3,000 eggs (in true honour of being an incubator) for the project to help nourish the children pre and post operations. With Easter fast approaching and if thoughts of eggs are filling your heart, do take a look at this awesome mission.
Fifty patients with facial disfigurements treated in 13 days by 32 medics (all volunteers from the UK) on the Complex Mission 2018. Jackie Riley will join a group of doctors, nurses, nutritionists and surgeons and they will be flying out to Ethiopia to help treat some of the most complex facial disfigurements. The cases that will be treated include Noma (a facial gangrene); tumours; animal attack injuries; burns; and other serious facial conditions.
Project Harar launches in February 2018 and will be welcoming patients in Addis Ababa, assessing them and prepping them for surgery. On 19th February, 13 days of surgeries will be begin. Once the patients come out of surgery, Project Harar continue taking very good care of them.
This year the focus is on improving post-operative care and training medics in Ethiopia, in order that patients can go home with fewer complications.
The fundraising target for our 2018 Complex Mission is £70,000 to treat 50 patients.
